Taxed

Rip-off Briton

Taxed
I see myself as a working class citizen. In fact every human that gets up in the morning to go to work is working class. It doesn’t matter if your a Doctor a Lawyer or a street sweeper. You are categorised as a working individual. This fact is backed up by the simple rule that you get taxed on your earnings. Your Government gets it cut of your income and there is nothing you can do about it. This in turn is monitored and protected by the law and order system.

Now lets look the tax system.

Income Tax on earnings, pensions and benefits.

You pay Income Tax on:

  • your wages if you’re employed
  • the profits from your business if you’re self-employed
  • your State Pension and any private pensions
  • some benefits like Jobseeker’s Allowance, Carer’s Allowance and Incapacity Benefit

As well as paying Income Tax on your wages and on income from self-employment, you also have to pay National Insurance contributions (NICs).

Some other forms of tax include:

Stamp duty
capital gains tax
VAT value added tax.
Inheritance tax
council tax
road tax

Now forgive me for thinking, but isn’t that a lot of tax?

Think about how much hard earned money, time and effort you just give to you’re Government. What about how much money you hand over in your life time? Its a scary thought.

Lets look at an example of a weekly tax charge.

Its costs me £50 a week in petrol to get to work and back. 66 p Inc: VAT of every £1 is tax.

That’s £33 a week
£132 a month
£1584 a year

Just to get to work.

Now before I even get my money to buy the petrol I get taxed on my income and pay my national insurance contributions. I now have to pay for my road tax and car insurance out of that taxable amount. Everything I buy now out of my already taxed income I pay tax again in VAT. That’s 17.5%
on everything I buy.

But wait a minute, didn’t I just pay tax?

After sitting down and relaxing in my home, it brings me joy to think about how I now have to pay,

Council tax – because I go to work and have to pay for my mortgage. So I have a place to bring up my family.

VAT on every house hold bill. That’s another 17.5% on every letter that hits the door mat with amount owed on it.

When my life comes to an end and I have served my country well. I can pass on my bought home to my kids. I think maybe this will help them have a better start in life.

Then my Government turn round and say to my children – you need to pay inheritance tax on that property.

I just gave you a life time of tax to help run this country.

A Rising.

What if we all just stopped. Everyone stayed at home. We finance this country, Us the workers. What if we had Tax Free Week. No one worked for a solid week.

The country would come to a complete stand still. The Government would break and we could demand a relief on our earnings.

Good point!
Yes it's way over the top but I agree with the previous comment, there's nothing we can do about it.

That is very true. But there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
